MCAT Prep Program

UC Merced MCAT Prep Program

The UC Merced MCAT Prep Program is a seven-week, two-course exam preparation program created to help UC Merced students with junior, senior, or alumni* status to prepare for and pass the MCAT. This program is sponsored by the UC Merced Office of Medical Education and the Office of the Provost and the Executive Vice Chancellor.

The program consists of two courses: The Total Student Transformation program and the Kaplan Live Online MCAT preparation course.

Program Overview

The first course, the Total Student Transformation program, was developed by Dr. Andre Pinesett at Stanford University. Dr. Pinesett has helped thousands of students to get motivated, achieve better test results, and ultimately achieve their academic goals through his preparation and study skills course. This program provides web-based training in four areas: effective time management, study skills and advanced study strategies, professional development (including networking, application, and personal statement interviewing), and mental fitness.

The Total Student Transformation consists of the following three components:

  • Course: How to dominate the MCAT without an expensive prep class (over 30 hours of on demand lectures and lifetime access for students).
  • Community: Access to Dr. Pinesett’s COGG (Cult of Greatness Group)
  • Coaching: Access to biweekly live coaching sessions with Dr. Pinesett.

The second course is the Kaplan Live Online MCAT preparation course. This program provides students with an efficient, effective course designed along the Association of American Colleges (AAMC) blueprint, including its ten foundational concepts, 31 content categories, and four scientific inquiry and reasoning skills.

The Kaplan Live Online course includes the following:

  • A total of 12 three-hour live instructional sessions with a certified Kaplan instructor
  • Unlimited access to MCAT Channel, an online additional resource with 90+ additional live hours of MCAT instruction taught by Kaplan’s highest rated faculty every day of the week
  • 15 full-length MCAT practice tests
  • Course books and materials
  • Diagnostic exams, science assessments, and much more
