Welcome to the Medical Education Collaborative — the place where UC Merced, academia, health partners and our community can come together to expand medical and health science education and training.
UC Merced has enjoyed rapid growth and expansion since its founding in 2005 and is now positioning itself to deliver medical education in the Valley. Our 15th anniversary year, 2020, has ushered in a new era for medical education at UC Merced. The formal placement of our medical education efforts in the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor has positioned the program to build a strong infrastructure to create health education and training partnerships and opportunities to train future health care providers who will remain and practice in the San Joaquin Valley.
The San Joaquin Valley bears a disproportionate burden of health disparities chronic disease and health inequity. All regional stakeholders have a stake in improving the health of the Valley. The Medical Education Collaborative is being established to develop genuine, regional partnerships between UC Merced and academia, health systems, regional school districts and community organizations. Together we will realize the goal of providing medical and health science education and training opportunities to San Joaquin Valley students and ultimately increasing the healthcare workforce.
This website will serve as a resource for education, training, medical, health and healthcare opportunities for UC Merced students, faculty, staff, administration, community colleges, school districts, professional organizations and societies, health care organizations and San Joaquin Valley community members. We look forward to working with you.
