SJV PRIME+ Requirements for Acceptance into UCSF SOM
- Students must graduate from UC Merced with an approved major within 4 academic years.
- Students must successfully complete the Med Ed Core.
- Students must meet BCPM & cumulative minimum UC GPA requirements
- Students who do not meet the GPA requirements by the end of year 3 will be subject to dismissal from the program
- For students who entered the baccalaureate portion of the program Fall 2025 or prior: Students must achieve BCPM (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math) & cumulative minimum UC GPA of 3.6 by end of year 3
- For students entering the baccalaureate portion of the program Fall 2026 and after: Students must achieve BCPM (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math) & cumulative minimum UC GPA of 3.7 by end of year 3.
- Students must earn passing grades (C- or better) in their year 4 baccalaureate courses and graduate on time to maintain conditional acceptance to UCSF SoM.
- Students who do not meet the GPA requirements by the end of year 3 will be subject to dismissal from the program
- Students must meet UC Merced’s residency requirement.
- Students must complete 24 of the last 36 units in residence in the school of the University of California in which the degree is to be earned.
- Students must uphold standards outlined in the professionalism policy.
- Students must complete community engagement activities requirements.
- Students must complete the Baccalaureate Research Experience (BRE) requirement by engaging in primary research for no fewer than two consecutive semesters, for credit, and are required to publicly present their research findings at the SJV PRIME+ symposium by the conclusion of their fourth academic year.
- Completion of the SJV PRIME+ Procedures for Advancement to UCSF SoM – This includes the submission of the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) application by July 31st of the summer preceding the students’ year 4, and an abbreviated interview with a UCSF SoM committee in the fall of year 4.
