Application Criteria for the SJV PRIME+ PROGRAM
To apply to the SJV PRIME+ Program, you must be a newly incoming first-year college student with close ties to the San Joaquin Valley community, a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in medicine, and a commitment to serving the region's communities. To be accepted, students must have a strong academic record, a demonstrated interest in health care, and be dedicated to their SJV community. In addition, students must meet all UC Merced acceptance criteria.

How to Apply
To be considered for the SJV PRIME+ BS/MD program you will need to complete both the University of California and SJV PRIME+ supplemental applications.
UC Application: Complete the University of California Application by November 20th.
(Note: The SJV PRIME+ deadline to receive a supplemental application is earlier than the UC filing period of November 30th)
- Apply to UC Merced as a first-year applicant through the UC application.
- Select UC Merced as a campus.
- Choose a primary qualifying major that contains that has “w/ SJV PRIME+, B.S. / M.D.” in the title. Only applicants who select the major will receive the supplemental application.
Supplemental Application: Complete the supplemental application by the first Friday of December.
- The supplemental application consists of additional questions (available to preview on our website) and a minimum of two letters of recommendation.
- If you selected an SJV PRIME+ major, you will receive an email within 3–5 business days of submitting your UC application at the email address provided in your UC application. Note: Your UC application must be submitted by November 20th.
- Because application requirements, timelines, and instructions may change, applicants should refer to the official SJV PRIME+ Admissions website for the most current information.
